California, San Francisco, Drought

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Free Association.”

This Daily Prompt was from early January this year but I thought it was fun to create a post based on this challenge.

So the rule for this prompt is to write down the first words that comes to mind when we say . . .

. . . home.

. . . soil.

. . . rain.

Here are my own “words” come to mind when I read this list:

Home – California, I grew up in Los Angeles, went to school in Santa Barbara, and lived most of my adult life in San Francisco. Currently I reside in New York City but still tell people that I am Californian at heart.

Soil – San Francisco, I spent all of my adult life living in San Francisco.  This city taught me about friendship with people I adore, showed me the courage to love, allowed me to make mistakes along the way, and grounded me to be a better person.  So San Francisco was like “soil” to me, it nourished me and let me grow.

Rain – Drought, this one is obvious, since California needs rain desperately, the whole state is in a serious drought right now.
